You Are the Good Kind of Fat

Fat is going through some identity issues, is fat good or bad, which fats to eat, should I avoid fat or consume fat?   Truth is, our bodies need certain fats.   Getting the right amount of fats from the right sources can help you lose stubborn pounds, yes that is what I said, you can eat fat to help you in your weight loss journey.

A study in the journal Diabetes Care found that a diet rich in monounsaturated fats (such as almonds, avocados, and olives) may prevent the accumulation of abdominal fat. "Fat is all about the source it comes from," says Lauren Blaue, R.D., a nutrition coach at Life Time Athletic Club in Minneapolis. 

By combining fats and carbs in the same meal will keep your blood sugar stable which can help with those hunger-inducing spikes and dips.  This can help avoid the mid-day slumps, headaches, and fat can help you feel satiated.  

This is not a pass to binge eat, though. Spread your fat macros throughout the day.  I eat almond butter with my oats, olive oil with lemon, and garlic drizzled on my salad at lunch, and smashed avocado with veggies for a snack.  A favorite treat is a chocolate avocado pudding.
